Séminaire

Seminar on “Geopolymers and Alkali Activated Materials”

It is a great pleasure to announce the Seminar on “Geopolymers and Alkali Activated Materials”, that will be held for the first time in occasion of the ECerS Conference . The Seminar is organized by the Italian Working Group on Geopolymers of the Italian Ceramic Society, active since 2008 and gathering more than 80 members, one third coming from industry.
Geopolymers are synthetic alkali aluminosilicate materials which can be consolidated at room temperature via alkaline or acidic activation of aluminosilicate powders. The aim of the Seminar is to inform beginners from the ceramics field on the synthesis, activation and properties of these materials, so that to face the request of low-carbon foot-print materials and CO2 reduction, typically high for Ordinary Portland Cement and traditional fired ceramics.
We expect a large number of international ceramic scientists, students, and industrial specialists interested in the technology that transforms a inorganic powdery by-product/waste/end-of-life material into a valuable product by a simple chemical reaction. There will also be the occasion to bring together academia and industrialists to discuss on the more updated technological innovations as well as on the classification and regulation issues.
The Seminar will start at the end of the Session on “Geopolymer and Cements” /Symposium 8 “SILICATE CERAMICS” in the afternoon of the last day of the conference, June 20th, and continuing the entire morning of June 21th.
